Death Magnetic Review

This is my first album review and i am pleased to say it's a positive one. In my opinion the music industry died in the late nineties. There was a time where big named artists actually made full length ALBUMS! One of my favorite things to do when i was younger was to put on a new album and listen to it all the way through. I knew that nine times out of ten if it was a band i liked the album was going to be good. People used to take pride in making albums. I honestly believe that the album as we know it will cease to exist in the near future. There is almost no need for it. Everything is about the single now and the ringtone. I really don't see the point of making albums anymore for popular music because 99 percent of them are bullshit. There is one or maybe two good songs and the rest is garbage. It costs the record company lots of money to make full length albums and then they end up going after the customer for stealing it on the internet anyway. So is it possible to save the full length album? Well in the case of Katy Perry and flavor the of the week pop artists i don't think so. But i don't think that's the case for everyone. Enter Death Magnetic...

I was very interested in seeing how Metallica was going to come back after what seemed to be like the end of their career. That is tough to write because they are my favorite rock band. Well after listening to Death Magnetic in full i can honestly say these guys are BACK! This record is certified bad ass. I really didn't think they had this album in them but i guess it's my fault for doubting. It's a throwback to their 80's records. More raw sounding, long progressive songs, unreal riffs, screaming vocals, and A+ guitar work. Some of the best lead playing since master of puppets.

Gone are the days of super producer Bob Rock, who was great but they really did need a change of style. Rick Rubin produced this record with them and it shows. He really brought out the best in these guys. There is even an instrumental! The more i listen to it the more i love it and the best part is...

EVERY SINGLE SONG IS GOOD!

i am not lying, track 1 is great and track 10 is great and everything else in between. If you like metal music or hard rock music you are going to love this album. And if you like old Metallica stuff, this is for you!
