Let The Right One In Review

Let the right one in is a swedish film directed by Tomas Alfredson and written by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It has two version for english, dubbed and subtitled. I would suggest watching the subtitled one as that is the one i watched it is is fantastic. On the surface it's a vampire film but it's really a lot more than that. It's a coming of age film, a romance film, a thriller, and a vampire movie. In some ways it reminds me of Stephen King's "Carrie" but only from the young boys perspective. It doesn't get as crazy as that.

The cinemetography is beautiful which is a big surprise to find in this kind of film. It's very opposite to most American films as it's VERY quiet. This is honestly a breathe of fresh air. There isn't loud music every two seconds to try and scare you. Its not full of a bunch of people jumping out at you and getting cheap thrills that after they are over aren't scary at all. This relies on a great script, a great director, and great acting by two young kids. Two things you don't see much in American films are present here. Child vampires and 12 year old vagina. Don't worry the poon scene is like half a second long but it's startling to see because that ain't something you see everyday!

It stats off pretty slow and takes a good half hour to really get going but i am telling you this movie is great. If you don't believe me just check out this...

I find that RT is the most accurate website for movie reviews and generally they are right on. Because you have SOO many critics and regular people voting its a good tool to go by. For a movie to be 98 percent is very rare and that's what this movie is. Rare.

9 our of 10.
