So I kept seeing this poster around online and just assumed it was some Blaxploitation film that was celebrating it's thirtieth anniversary or something. But every time I saw it there was always a link for the movie's trailer not far off. "Ok," I thought "I'll check it out." A few seconds into the trailer I realized something wasn't quite right. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this is a new film and that it's coming out next Friday (10/16). This is brilliant! The film pokes fun at all those great exploitation films from the 70's while and at the same time remaining faithful to the look, dialogue, and music which makes this genre so great in the first place. I know it's someone else just doing what other directors did long ago, but it feels fresh. It's not a stupid "bromance" movie, a vampire flick, or some terrible horror remake. It's just pure ass-kicking fun that honors a truly awesome era of film making. Here's the trailer:
