The Dark Knight Review

I just got back from seeing the Dark Knight. I guess the main thing that i got out of my experience is this... They REALLY have to stop overhyping movies. First "Wanted" was the best thing since the "Matrix" and now this is supposed to be the best crime drama since the "Departed." To put "Wanted" in the same sentence as the "Matrix" and to put this film in the same as the "Departed" is ridiculous. This was a good movie that i enjoyed, it wasn't great. I was thinking about all the movies i have seen so far this year and i would say it's the best but that's not really saying that much because for the most part hollywood has put out a bunch of garbage this year. I would say this is definitely one of the best comic book movies i have ever seen. It was dark and it didn't have much cheese in it that most of these comic movies have. I really really really hate how cheesy the spiderman movies could be at times. Ironman didn't have a lot of cheese and that's why i liked it. This movie had hardly any at all and that's why i like it even more. Heath ledger is fantastic but i honestly believe if he was still alive people wouldn't be making a big of a deal of his acting as they are. An oscar? i don't think people should go that far and i don't think they would be even mentioning it if he was still with us. He was really good though and if it wasn't for him the film wouldn't be nearly as good.

I think Christian Bale makes a good batman, the best since Keaton. Maybe even better but the original batman was such a classic movie that it's hard to say. The Dark Knight and the original one are completely different and comparisons don't make much sense. The original was more like a comic book and this one is more like a real life drama.. only with a guy dressed as a bat. And here we go again with Morgan freeman being in every god damn movie. There is such a thing as over-exposure. It's getting a little irritating seeing the same actor in every movie.

Overall it's definitely worth seeing and much better than most comic book movies, but just don't think it's going to be the greatest thing you have ever seen. Most likely you will be disappointed.

Awesome. I've been waiting for a non-hyped review of this.

I think I will go see this some time.

I agree with you Troy. It's an awesome film, but one of the best crime-drama movies out there...? If anything, and you've said it, it is a great comic book movie. One of the best and I don't even like Batman.

Heath Ledger was awesome too. He actually made the Joker a lunatic that doesn't care about anything or anyone (including himself). No witty one-liners this time. No sir. Instead we get a Joker that only wants to make your life a living hell. Ledger was great, but an Oscar?

This is an excellent film and long as hell (about 2 1/2 hours), but definitely worth sitting through...although, I could've done with out all that "Bat-Sonar" crap.
