I know this movie is famous and older but this is for the few people who still haven't seen it. My cousin Tyler asked me to review this one and after watching it again this weekend i have it fresh in my mind.
American beauty is a film written and directed by Alan Ball. His most recent project is True Blood on HBO which i love (check it out!) It was originally meant to be a play but it was changed into a movie script and i glad he did. I read this script before i watched it again. The script is amazing and is slightly different than the movie. I would really recommend finding the script online and checking it out. Everything about this movie is great, seriously. The script, the direction, the acting, the casting, etc.
It's hard to put this movie into words because it will not do it justice but i will try. The film is basically about a married guy with a wife and a daughter who has become extremely bored with his life and feels dead inside. No one respects him, including his family and he is basically a joke all around. One day he gets sexually excited about something (not going to tell you) and it awakens him. The rest of the movie is about him finding himself and finding himself while every other character in the movie is doing the same. His wife, his daughter, the daughters boyfriend, and the boyfriends father. Without ruining the film, i will just say that there is a great amount of comedy and tragedy in the film and it's one you have to see!

Great movie. Reminds me of Fight Club in the breaking free from society way.
i love this movie, its just one of those movies where no matter how old it gets it's still always awesome!
The last 10 mins of this film are great. One of my favorite films. I will never forget how awesome K. Spacey delivers "I rule" with that monotone voice. Genius.
